For SPIES, sustainability means achieving balance - with our environment, our employees and all other stakeholders. Our vision of sustainability is based on the well-known three pillars - economy, ecology and social affairs - which harmonize in their interaction with each other. Therefore we pursue the goals of these three perspectives in equal measure, mastering the challenges of tomorrow and securing the future.
The key priorities for 2023 focused on preparing for CSRD reporting, drafting a ‘SPIES & Partner’ Code, and establishing robust systems for data collection and calculation as part of our climate strategy.
Our strategy map is structured around several perspectives: finance, customers, processes, employees and sustainability.
The strategy map also includes a number of sustainability-related objectives. These include reducing our carbon footprint and developing a reporting system that incorporates sustainability metrics. Additional strategic measures involve promoting electric mobility within our fleet and introducing recycling processes for production waste. Clear objectives have also been set in the area of human resources, such as establishing a workplace health system and the ongoing development and training of SPIES employees.
Our 2023 Sustainability Report has been prepared in accordance with the German Sustainability Code (DNK) reporting standards. The formal report addressing the German Sustainability Code’s 20 criteria is available in the database on the DNK website.
Our approach to sustainability is guided by established standards and targets such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. SPIES operates an ISO 50001-certified energy management system, holds FSSC 22000 certification for quality management, is ISCC+ certified and reports via the EcoVadis and Sedex platforms.
