Emmi Fair InnoPack Challenge 2023

With great pleasure Guido Pöhls and Carolin Jonas from SPIES together with the CEO of the cooperation partner kooky., Torge Barkholtz, were able to accept the Fair-Inno-Pack Award 2023 from the company Emmi.

As a long-standing supplier, SPIES had entered the competition with two innovative packaging ideas and was able to secure one of the eight awards from among around 80 entries. The winning product concept: The SPIESsmart reusable cup with integrated RFID chip, which is suitable for the passage of many use cycles thanks to its nature. SPIES is not only concerned with the product alone, but is also committed to building and establishing the processes necessary for a reusable system. For the underlying service and logistics processes, SPIES has teamed up with the start-up kooky. to be able to implement the topic of reusable packaging in a sustainable and future-proof way.

A synergy of competencies with the common goal of a circular economy, which also excited Emmi.

In order to both promote and drive innovative ideas for sustainable packaging, Emmi organised the Fair Inno Pack competition together with 38 selected suppliers. The aim was to generate new and creative packaging ideas that take account of Emmi's ambitious sustainability goals. A jury consisting of marketing, purchasing and R&D evaluated around 80 concepts submitted, 32 of which went through to a second round. In the final round, seven suppliers prevailed with a total of eight different concepts.

The winning concepts were presented at an internal award ceremony by the suppliers on 20 June 2023 at Emmi's headquarters and awarded prizes by the Swiss Executive Board.[…] The winning projects will now be followed up within the Emmi teams and checked for feasibility.
