On Thursday, 06.06.2019, from 12:30 to 18:00, the SPIES Packaging group (SPIES Kunststoffe GmbH & SPIES Formen- und Werkzeugbau GmbH) will host the event "The FUTURE Art of Packaging" at the head quarter in Gesmold (Im Gewerbepark 12).
What will the packaging market of the future look like? Which role will alternative plastics, recycling quotas and the circular economy play in the packaging industry? Six interesting lectures by well-known, international representatives from the industry will address these topics.
Christof Spies (CEO): "The event has a lighthouse effect for the plastics industry. Plastic packaging has absolute market authorization - that's what I stand for personally. We encourage, clarify and give the right impulses for a better functioning circular economy. Every part of the value chain is in demand here - small optimizations have a massive impact on the sustainability of packaging "
Mr. Reiner (Berndt + Partner GmbH) launches the lecture series with the topic "The Packaging Market in Transition with Confidence in the Future" as keynote speaker. Mr. Spies, Managing Partner of SPIES, focuses in his presentation "SPIES today & tomorrow - innovative, sustainable, future-proof" the long-term orientation of the company and the strategic investments in the location Melle, Germany. Mr. Knapen (Borealis Group) deals with the question of alternative plastics and recycling in his lecture "Alternative plastics and design for recycling - contradiction or harmonic connection?". Mr. Nico van de Walle (Verstraete - IML) talks about the various possibilities of labeling and thus the better separation of different plastics from packaging in "IML Packaging 2030 - Circular Economy and Digitalisation as Main Development Engines". In the last lecture, Dr. Ing. Rainer Brandsch (MDCTec Services GmbH) on "the new packaging law and recycling quotas". The panel discussion on "#noplastic- is that the solution" completes the event.
In addition to the presentations, all participants can visit the production plant III and the fully automated high-bay warehouse through guided tours. Opened in 2018, it is Europe's most modern injection molding shop for packaging - highly automated production facilities and intelligent building technology fascinate every visitor.

On 06th of June we welcome mainly brand owners and distributors of plastic packaging, e.g. bottlers of ice cream or delicatessen salads, from all over Europe. According to recent feedback, more than 100 people are participating, mainly from Germany, but also from Great Britain, Italy, Belgium, Poland and Switzerland.
