These days you would notice a lot of hustle and bustle on the new site of Spies Kunststoffe GmbH (38,000 sqm) immediately to the north of the motorway on the Gesmold industrial site: in a first investment step a new production site is being created on a plot of 18,000 square metres, a high-rack warehouse, a logistics area and an adjacent engineering and administration building. At peak times some 100 people work on the construction site to ensure completion of Plant III by early summer 2018. The investment goes into the double-digit millions. “This investment is a clear statement that we are convinced of the future viability and the potential of our enterprise”, explains Christof Spies, Managing Director. Through his commitment he continues the steady growth course of the family-run business spanning over 50 years. Currently, the existing sites in Melle produce around 1.5 billion packaging units annually. The new plan creates ideal opportunities to meet customer requirements concerning manufacturing and logistics even faster and more comprehensively in the future.
